they are for detecting car movement in a cross walk and will take your licence photo when you dont stop at the line before the intersection. and if you creep up into the crosswalk it will also take a photo and then report it to that towns police dept to issue a warning letter or citation. i just got my warning letter today . i work in Newark, NJ and thats who sent it.

Fortunately, I'm married to a 'traffic man' and this is what the little black box on the top of the traffic light is..."a disconnect hanger that will permit the removal of the traffic signal head from the mounting attachment without the use of tools and disconnecting or disturbing the wire leads entering the signal housing."
Answer 2 :
There's a camera at the other end of the longest pole. I was glad to see those camera go up here in Washington state Driver's do not yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk

Answer 1 :
6 million people travel back and forth each day from nj/ny ny/nj....i am sure there is room for one more...
Answer 2 :
Go to Penn Station, Manhattan from whatever neighborhood in Queens you live) and take the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor or North Jersey Coast Line for $5 into Newark Penn Station (there are also monthly passes available). You can also take the PATH from 33rd Street to Grove Street and transfer to the train to Newark. (That train also leaves from the World Trade Center station in Lower Manhattan). This is slower, but costs $1.75. Hope this helps.
Answer 3 :
Well, if you decide to transport your car, you can check this website and plus have some 10$ credit for posting your question. www.BidAnswer.com Check it out, I liked it

Where are the best places to live in New Jersey?
I'm going to be working in Newark, NJ. I'm going to be living with my wife. Looking for a place with good schools, safe, nice houses, short commuting time, friendly people, etc. Looking to spend a maximum of $500,000. I don't want to commute more than 45 minutes.

well nowhere near newark if you are looking for schools how far are you willing to commute
Answer 2 :
Take out a map of NJ and start looking at towns in Union and Morris Counties. If you stay relatively close to Routes 24 or 78 you can be in Newark in 20-40 minutes.
Answer 3 :
I'm an agent in Orange County NY, I'm about 1 hour from NYC. You can get alot for $500,000 and still be within 45-60 minutes of Newark. Feel free to contact me at biff_delmonte@yahoo.com, I'd be happy to send you some listings in my area. We also work with realtors in NJ, so I could refer you you to a realtor in NJ, if you'd prefer to stay in NJ. The public schools in my area are among the best in NY state

About How much salary does a special-ed teacher make if they have been working for 20 yrs in Newark,NJ

How much salary does a special-ed teacher make if they have been working for 20 yrs in Newark,NJ.?
I was told by someone that they saw a pay check from a teacher and it was a huge amount of money .
Special Education - 5 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
did they mean huge as in 1200 a month or huge as in 4600 a month? Or was it like "20,000" and that would mean that the teacher chose to get payed in one big lump for the year...dunno
Answer 2 :
yeah, Newark is ghetto the ghetto schools have lots of violence, so people are afraid to teach there, so they pay good to attract teahcers and special ed makes even MORE special ed in the ghetto... BLING BLING BABY!!!!!1
Answer 3 :
Hello, I work in Newark...in the Special Education Department...the Child Study Team. It is possible that a teacher working for 20 consistent years to make salaries between 70-90K. You can send me an email directly and I will let you know as per the current contract as well. I don't have it right now. Yes, Newark is an Urban district and there are many problems, but we also have MANY things in Newark to be proud of. It is unfortunate that those outside of Newark only see the bad accounts of the violence that occurs here and not the wonderful good news that happens every day. We have several magnet, or gifted and talented schools; and all of our high schools have academies directed towards specific vocations or professions of interest to give our youth a head start in their college studies. Peace!
Answer 4 :
I have worked in Newark school system and it is not all that bad. I have seen more violence in rural or suburban schools in NJ than in Newark. Newark is an Abbott school district which means that the state of NJ runs the school district and pays through the nose of the district to run. If you want to know more about Abbott school district go to the following link: http://www.edlawcenter.org/ELCPublic/AbbottvBurke/AbbottHistory.htm To learn more about the salaries from the Newark school district, you would go to the Newark school district http://www.nps.k12.nj.us/hrsfaq.html or the NJ Dept of Education has a list of salaries for specific districts. The average starting salary in 2006 was $40,000; it can increase with your experience and degrees. There are teachers making $80,000 in Newark and in other districts. The administrators can make a $100,000 and upwards. Remember NJ is different than most states. NJ is home rule. Each teacher union builds their own contracts and demands. Salaries can range from district to district. Having a special education degree is no different than having a regular education degree because you all start on the same pay scale. The more credits you have toward a masters or advanced degree the more you are paid. But there is a cap on the salaries of what you will be paid. The more years you are in the more you make but it stops at a specific cap. The benefit for working in an urban district like Newark is that they have ample professional development including college courses. The students are respectful when you respect them. The teachers support each other. The downfall to working in a district like Newark is that there are tons of mandates from the state. The lack of parental input or support for the majority of the students. I also found that because of the mandates there was no consistency in the teaching methods used with the students from year to year. The other difficulties are often the language barriers. It is a stressful job. Because you are in a inner city location you often struggle with : students being hungry, abuse, students that don’t attend school on a regular basis, homelessness, drugs and the other issues. .

About State Taxes wrongly paid to Mass instead of NJ for several months

State Taxes wrongly paid to Mass instead of NJ for several months?
My company paid state taxes to the wrong state for several months and now I have two W-2's. What do I have to file to get this money back? We moved to New Jersey from Massachusetts at the end of 07' and I worked in Newark NJ for all of 08'. I had told the company to change my residence when we moved here but they "FORGOT" and I did not catch it myself right away. So now none of the numbers make sense and I'm not sure which forms to file to correct this problem.

Answer 1 :
You will report all your income for the year to New Jersey on a New Jersey resident tax return. You will probably have a balance due. You can file a nonresident tax return to Massachusetts and on it put down that you had no Massachusetts wages or income. Your tax liability will be zero to MA and you will be owed a full refund of your state income tax withholding. A note should be added to your MA return explaining that you moved in December 2007 from MA to NJ and that your employer was late in updating your address and so some of your wages were erroneously ascribed to MA in 2008. Richard K Enrolled Agent This advice is based upon my understanding of the tax law in effect at the time is was written as it applies to the facts provided by you. See my profile for more information

The Internet is a wonderful thing where you can find jobs hiring right now. Just look at the different job search websites and you will probably find some good leads before the day is over. Good luck. http://jobshiringnow.org/
Answer 2 :
I would look in the local newspaper and see what you see. But in addition you should go to the Jersey Gardens Mall they have a ton of stores there I am sure you can find places to apply and work there. You usually can even go on the mall website or go to the customer service stand there and see who is hiring. Or you can just go from store to store and inquire

Answer 1 :
I am not familiar with the details of Newark, but from what I understand there are some pretty rough sections, so you'll want advice from the people you're working with. One thing I can tell you about is that there is definitely public transportation into NYC. There are a couple of different options, but there are trains from Newark right into the heart of Manhattan via Penn Station.
Answer 2 :
I worked and travelled through Newark for years. Newark is not a great place to be at night. They do have the greatest Portuguese restaurants in the entire USA, but if you are going to be there a month and you decide to stay in Newark, you'll be in your hotel room at night fall or earlier. Here is what I would do if I were you. Stay at the Gateway Hilton in Newark. I assume you'll be working somewhere near the Gateway Center, so its easy to get to and from work. You are walking distance and all enclosed to the train station to quickly jump a train (15 minutes or less) into New York City (take NJ Transit for mid-town, PATH for downtown). You can then jump a train back to Newark Penn Station from NY and not even have to go outside to get back to the Hotel. In Newark, you should try to get to some of the restaurants as well as there is a minor league baseball team (newark bears) if you like to take in a game. Highly suggest not wandering the streets of Newark. Its not the safest place to be if you aren't familiar with the area!
Answer 3 :
Well, I admire you in asking that question. It is very profound! Well you are an excellent guy! Thank you for asking! Good description and explanation

About Rutgers Business School-Newark vs New Brunswick job prospects. Employers welcomed too

Rutgers Business School-Newark vs New Brunswick job prospects. Employers welcomed too.?
I know many people have asked this question already, but answers to those questions have to do primarily with the campus life and the fact that many applicant apply for the New Brunswick campus (hence, more favorable answers toward NB). My question is which Rutgers Business School is better in terms of job prospect and academically? I know that Rutgers-New Brunswick has better things to substantiate the view of the New Brunswick Business School (bigger, dorms, life, and larger applicant body), but does all this matter when you are looking for a job? From what I hear, Newark is easier to get into, but it has some same professors as New Brunswick. Lets say somebody graduated with a 3.5 at Newark. Is that the same as 3.5 from New Brunswick? After all, the two business schools are the same. The reason I'm asking is because I work near Newark but live close to New Brunswick. I'll be applying for them in a year or so. Honest and non-bias answers are greatly appreciate.

Umm yeah the words "Newark" and "safe" should not be used in the same sentence. Camden, Trenton and Newark all made the top 25 Most Dangerous Cities list: http://www.morganquitno.com/cit07pop.htm
Answer 2 :
Well I live in New Jersey. Newark I'm not so sure about but South Orange is a nice little town. Yeah you can take the NJ Transit to NYC. What I suggest (for both NY and NJ is to just research the area on the internet). NYC is so huge. Just walk out of the subway and there's stuff to do. Hey thats kinda cool I know a kid from Louisville, KY. We go to the same college!
Answer 3 :
I agree with the first guy. I hope this job pays well. Please be careful, always have something you could use for protection and a cell phone. Study local street maps to become familiar with your surroundings
